Celebrating the Impact of Kiwanis!
Kiwanis service, when done by many hands, creates a ripple effect in our community. Whether it’s granting dollars to support programs offered by organizations helping youth & children in our community, reading to after-school clubs, events at the local Library, scholarship awards and more, Kiwanis serves our community through time, talent, and treasure. But, this can only be done through it’s members. More hands = more service!
Operation Read at Hamilton Elementary School, Moline, Two Rivers Y After-School Program
Members read to those attending the after-school program, approximately one Friday per month. This enhances communication and listening skills, reading and comprehension, questions & answers, and participation. Often, after our books are read (age groups are divided) we often conduct a project with the students. This may be a word puzzle or game, coloring page, craft/activity, or sometimes even a simple game of bingo! We’ve even colored and assembled kites!
